Porto Cervo, 25 May 2025. The 24th edition of the Grand Soleil Cup took place from 21 to 23 May, returning to Porto Cervo following the 2024 edition. At the conclusion of two days of racing, the GS 72 P PantaRei 2 claimed overall victory, followed by the GS 80 LC Bianca 2 in second and the GS 65 LC Meligunis in third place. PantaRei 2 also claimed the top spot among the seven Grand Soleil Plus entries, while among the Grand Soleil yachts, the GS 40 P Yankee took the honours.
The fleet of 21 yachts spanned the entire range of Grand Soleil models, running from 37 to 80 feet in length. Participants were divided into two groups according to their technical specifications, with both days of racing starting in the waters just off Porto Cervo.
On 22 May, the fleet set off on a coastal race that saw them head towards Capo Ferro before entering the Passo delle Bisce and rounding a mark off the Secca di Tre Monti shoal, where a dying breeze prompted the Race Committee to bring the finish line forward. Bianca 2 led throughout, heading the provisional standings at the close of day one. The final day of racing, on 23rd May, was marked by a 12-knot north-easterly wind at the start that gradually eased to 7 knots. The fleet rounded Monaci island before heading towards Isola delle Bisce, continuing on to Mortoriotto and the finish line. A win in this final race for PantaRei 2, owned by Carlo Pagliani, clinched overall victory in the event.
The Grand Soleil Cup combined the owners’ passion for sailing with social events ashore, reaffirming the balance between sport and lifestyle that has always defined this gathering: from pre-race briefings to post-race socials, through to the welcome cocktail, gala dinner, prize-giving ceremony and farewell party at the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda.

Alongside the Grand Soleil Cup, owners from the wider Pardo Yachts group also gathered in Porto Cervo for Cantiere del Pardo Week, bringing together the group’s various brands for a week dedicated to sailing, networking and exchange of ideas.
“An edition of the Grand Soleil Cup has drawn to a close that perfectly captured the spirit of this event: the joy of sailing in the extraordinary waters of the La Maddalena Archipelago, and the pleasure of sharing moments of friendship and conviviality ashore.” commented YCCS Secretary General and Sports Director, Giorgio Benussi. “Over the past few days, we have seen a close-knit community, united by a passion for the sea and a desire to share a special experience together, both on and off the water. I would like to thank Cantiere del Pardo for their collaboration and everyone who contributed to the success of the event, including the Race Committee, the staff of the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, and all the participants whose enthusiasm and sportsmanship made this edition so special.”
Attention now turns to a busy two weeks for the YCCS, starting with the Giorgio Armani Superyacht Regatta from 26 to 30 May, followed by the Range Rover Sardinia Cup from 31 May to 7 June.
