Limone sul Garda, 24 August 2021. The final phase of the Youth Foiling Gold Cup – Act 2 got underway today, and after six races completed on this first day, Young Azzurra holds second place in the provisional overall classification.
Following this morning’s briefing at 11.30 a.m., racing started at around 12.30 p.m. with a light breeze from the north and then from the south. Six races were completed and it was a positive day overall for Young Azzurra. The YCCS team posted consistently good results, racking up four second-place finishes and a third. The final race of the day proved to be more challenging, and concluded with a sixth-place finish. Taking into account today’s results, the electronic score and points for fair play, Young Azzurra currently sits in second place in the provisional overall classification.
Gabriele Bruni, coach of Young Azzurra: “Today was a good day’s sailing for Young Azzurra. It’s a pity that in the last race they paid the price for a poor decision to do a gybe set which left them covered by their opponents’ sails. All of the five other races were good ones and the team did well. We’ll keep going like this!”
Racing will continue tomorrow, 25 August. Click here for full results.
