Porto Cervo has been inextricably linked to maxi yachts for over 30 years: in 1980 the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda organized the first championship for the world’s most spectacular yachts. Today the event, organized in collaboration with the International Maxi Association and with the support of title sponsor Rolex, gathers ever-more impressive and technologically advance fleets for racing on the waters of the Costa Smeralda each September. Copeting divisions range from the new Maxi 72 class, which disputes its World Championship during the event, to the Supermaxi division for yachts of over 30.5 metres.
