After a 14-year hiatus, the Sardinia Cup is coming back to its home waters this year. A regatta that has left a lasting mark on the history of the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda and international sailing will once again take centre stage on the Costa Smeralda, in the return of a competition that helped put Sardinia on the international sailing map.
From 31 May to 7 June 2026, the Range Rover Sardinia Cup will be organised by the YCCS with the support of Range Rover, the Club’s institutional partner. The event will see teams representing Italian and international yacht clubs compete, each racing with two boats in the Sardinia Cup Class 1 and Sardinia Cup Class 2 divisions.

As in previous editions, the regatta will run every two years, alternating with the Admiral’s Cup and adopting its rules to allow teams to participate in both events with the same boats and configurations.

To date, 20 boats have officially entered, representing 10 teams, a clear signal of the appetite for the return of a regatta which, from its earliest editions, has drawn some of the most renowned owners and sailors in offshore racing to Porto Cervo.

The historical significance and identity of the Sardinia Cup are also brought to life by the testimonies of veterans of past editions. Among them, Enrico Chieffi reflects on the deep connection between the regatta and the region: “What has made, and will make, the Sardinia Cup unique within this team-based context? Sardinia.”

Today, the return of the Sardinia Cup represents more than the revival of a historic competition. It is a passing of the baton, from the stories of those who shaped its most iconic editions to the new generations called upon to carry on its legacy, continuing to write the history of a regatta intrinsically linked to the YCCS, Porto Cervo and Sardinia.
