Porto Cervo, 26 June 2026. Racing at the Invitational Smeralda 888, a traditional event on the class calendar, begins today and runs through Sunday 28 June, concluding with a prize-giving ceremony at the YCCS.
Three teams are flying the colours of host club the YCCS, with members at the helm of each: Vittorio Lombardi Stronati with Stay Rude; Giada, with skipper Germano Scarpa; and Nicolò Saidelli’s Mathilde. Completing the entry list, which comprises a total of nine crews, are: Zarina by DAS, skippered by Marie Helene Polo; Ziva, with owner Silvia De Longhi at the helm; V Force skippered by Timofey Sukhotin; Vamos Mi Amor, with Charles De Bourbon at the helm; and Paka’A, skippered by Martin Nweeia. Marco Favale returns with Millenium Falcon to defend his win in last year’s event.

The crews will compete in windward-leeward races on the waters off Porto Cervo aboard Smeralda 888 boats, designed for the YCCS by German Frers. The competition gets underway this afternoon with light Mistral winds forecast. A maximum of three races may be held on each of the three race days, up to a total of eight races for the event.
