Canard a l'Orange and Mascalzone Latino are protagonists of the third day of the Coppa Europa Smeralda 888

Vamos Mi Amor remains in the lead of the provisional scoreboard

Porto Cervo, 8 July 2023. Perfect weather conditions today for the third day of racing at the Coppa Europa Smeralda 888. After the event’s total of seven races run so far, including three today, Vamos Mi Amor remains in the lead of the provisional scoreboard. The cards have been reshuffled in regards to second and third places though, and now we see Achille Onorato’s Canard a l'Orange followed by Vincenzo Onorato’s Mascalzone Latino.     

The eleven crews participating in the event were able to enjoy beautiful sailing today in the sunshine with a steady easterly breeze at 10-12 knots.     

Stars of the third day of racing were the teams aboard Canard a l'Orange and Mascalzone Latino who dominated the fleet in all three of today’s races. They started each race in the top positions and rounded the buoys together, chasing each other from start to finish. Winner of the day was Canard a l'Orange with three consecutive bullets. Mascalzone Latino finished with two second places while in the final race they crossed the finish line third, behind Charles De Bourbon's Vamos Mi Amor. Thanks to today's results Canard a l'Orange and Mascalzone Latino have climbed up the provisional scoreboard and are currently in second and third places respectively. Vamos Mi Amor remains in the lead with a good ten point margin over the second placed team after finishing third, fourth and second in today’s races. 

Tomorrow, July 9th, is the final day of the event and the winner of the twentieth edition of the Coppa Europa Smeralda will be decided. The first starting signal is scheduled for 11:00 am with wind forecast from the east at between 10 and 12 knots.
