Comments: Ahoy! My name is Marco Brandon Rossini, I’m 19 years old and I’m currently attending business school in Milan, Italy, at University Bocconi.
I’ve been sailing since the age of 6 in my hometown Pesaro, on the east coast of Italy. I’ve sailed Optimists, Open Bics, 420s, 470s, Laser 4.7, Laser Radials, Laser Standards, Sunfish and Fly Juniors. I’ve been part of the sailing team and competed in national and world championships.
I further cultivated my passion for sailing at the Centro Velico Caprera in Sardinia starting from the summer of 2014, where I would spend 2 weeks doing nothing but sail. There I sailed Laser Bahias, Topper Argos, Laser Vagos, RS 500 and also monohulls like J80s, Beneteau First 25.7, Sunfast 3200 and Dehler 25s. In 2017, at the age of 17, I was selected as one of the youngest ever to undergo training to become an instructor at the school, which I have since then completed.
I’ve often charters boats for vacations with my family composed by me, my parents and my 2 younger sisters. Usually 40 footers, we sailed mainly in the Mediterranean, exploring all the major Italian archipelagoes (Maddalena, Eolie, Egadi…), but also abroad, for example the Sea of Abaco, Bahamas.
Since January 2018, I’ve been involved with a racing crew aboard Vismara’s 62-foot fast cruiser “Salinigiâ€, covering the positions of bowman and helmsman.
I completed my first ocean crossing in July-August 2018, from Kaneohe, Oahu, to San Francisco in 14 days and 7 hours aboard DK47 “Cazanâ€.
I’ve competed in the 2018 Barcolana in Trieste, Italy, aboard “Salinigiâ€, finishing 33rd overall.
I’m currently training for the spring championship aboard TP 52 “Orlanda†in the bowman position.
Due to my love for the water, I’ve been swimming competitively since the age of 7, I surf and kite surf, I’m a licensed lifeguard, also for jet ski and SUP rescues, I have a BLSD certificate and I obtained my nautical license as soon as the law would allow.
If given this opportunity, I am open to contributing in any way I can, but mostly gain experience in this fascinating environment which has always been a dream of mine. Cheers!
