Porto Cervo, 23 September 2023. The weather forecast for today gave a Mistral wind of around 20 knots and building, resulting in the start of racing being brought forward to 10 a.m. This morning the Race Committee was out on the water at around 8 a.m. to monitor the situation, and by 9 a.m. the wind was already bowing at over 25 knots. The AP signal was therefore hoisted ashore to await further developments. Unfortunately, the wind kept building, forcing the committee to cancel the scheduled races.
At the moment the teams with a win under their belts are New Moon III and Jean Genie, and the fleet has an anxious wait to see who will claim the third race. Only the winners of the first three races will qualify to continue the battle for the prestigious Scandinavian Gold Cup.
The classifications therefore remain unchanged for the Hankø Evolution Cup, with Joker in the lead (FRA 50, Adrien Polaillon, Eric Polaillon, Jean-Baptiste Polaillon), and Cibele heading the rankings for the Royal Kaag Classic Cup (ITA 72, Fabrizio Cavazza, Vittorio Zaoli, Duccio Colombi).
In order to complete the scheduled programme, racing has been brought forward for tomorrow 24th September, with the first starting signal set for 9.30 a.m. Light winds of 7-9 knots are forecast.
