YCCS Sustainability Commitment

The Yacht Club Costa Smeralda remains steadfast in its commitment to environmental sustainability, making strategic choices that embrace both the Club's facilities and its activities at sea. In terms of the latter, 2024 marked the achievement of a major milestone: all of the main regattas - the Giorgio Armani Superyacht Regatta, J/24 Range Rover European Championship, Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup and Rolex Swan Cup - were awarded “Platinum Clean Regattas” certification by Sailors for the Sea, an international non-profit association dedicated to safeguarding the marine environment in relation to sailing activities.

Platinum certification was achieved through the implementation of a series of measures, in accordance with a check-list developed by Sailors for the Sea. The 20 sustainability requirements included:

•    eliminating single-use items
•    engaging the community in sustainability awareness
•    responsible waste management
•    promoting sustainable means of transport
•    using locally-sourced products
•    organising beach clean-up initiatives.

The Yacht Club Costa Smeralda is now looking to 2025 with the aim of maintaining this status, continuing to adopt innovative practices and identify new solutions that further reduce the impact of its operations, making them increasingly sustainable.
