Sime Fantela, Croatian Olympic sailor, are you used to sailing here in Porto Cervo on maxi yachts and large boats?

Sime Fantela: Yes, I've been here before, quite some time ago. I believe it was in 2015 when I first came here on a Wally 80, and I have nothing but beautiful memories. It's a wonderful place. We always have good breeze for sailing, and I appreciate the numerous challenges on the racecourse. Each section of the racecourse has its own unique tips and tricks that you need to grasp.

Do you have a preference between the Archipelago de la Maddalena or the Croatian Islands?

Sime Fantela: They are remarkably similar. I can honestly say I love it here because it reminds me of the Kornati islands and the areas around my hometown of Zadar.

You are an Olympic sailor accustomed to Windward-Leeward courses, but I assume you started sailing around the Kornati or similar islands. Has that experience been helpful for you here?

Sime Fantela: About 95% of my time is spent sailing windward-leeward courses. However, the beauty of it is that you can adapt those skills to coastal races as well. What I really enjoy is the new challenge that coastal races offer. I love learning new things. Naturally, I apply my knowledge to coastal races, so it's a nice blend of new experiences and the strategies I'm familiar with, which I try to employ to win races.
